Summer Cruise

Each scholarship midshipmen will go on a Summer Cruise between the Spring and Fall semesters. Navy summer training begins with Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID). CORTRAMID introduces midshipmen to four warfare areas: submarines, aviation, surface warfare, and Marine training.

Each summer training programs is designed to instill awareness and provide midshipmen with the background necessary to make informed decisions regarding their future service in the Navy or Marine Corps.

For Navy-Option midshipmen, follow-on Summer Cruise options (junior or senior year) include any naval vessel (submarines, destroyers, aircraft carriers, and cruisers) or an aviation squadron. Summer cruise training lasts 2-4 weeks.

For Marine-Options, Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC) and Officer Candidate School (OCS) are required summer training. MWTC lasts ten days and OCS is six weeks.
